Competing in an emerging markets-driven world: new imperatives for business
More than half of global GDP growth in the decade ahead will come from emerging markets; already, new competitors from these economies are formidable global players, even industry leaders. In addition, these geographies are increasingly becoming key sources of future talent, innovation, and capital; together, these factors create seismic shifts in the global economy’s center of gravity and implore Western companies to confront the enormous organizational and strategic changes required to respond to the opportunities and threats these markets pose.
This taskforce will develop an action agenda for business leaders facing the major changes resulting from emerging markets’ dramatic rise by identifying:
• The most important changes to and future uncertainties in the business environment
• Key success factors, and potential pitfalls, that will determine success in this new business environment (within individual companies and as a global business community)
• The most critical management behaviors to achieving success
